Cheap Travel to Southeast Asia

1. Malaysia

Malaysia is widely regarded as expensive, but it is actually relatively affordable. Malaysia is a nice place to visit in Southeast Asia. With many beautiful beaches, shopping malls and modern cities, national parks, charming sites, and ancient architectural masterpieces, there is never a dull moment when visiting Malaysia because of its diversity. Malaysia, in addition to the obvious city of Kuala Lumpur, has UNESCO World Heritage Sites (Penang), tree-top National Parks (Taman Negara), cultural hubs (Malacca), and beach-paradise islands (Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park).

  • Tourism during COVID-19: Malaysia has reopened its borders on April 1, 2022, and visitors vaccinated against COVID-19 will be allowed to enter without quarantine.

2. Indonesia : a low-cost destination for experiencing island life.

Although Bali is the most well-known and popular attraction in Indonesia, the country is actually an archipelago of over 17,000 islands, making it an excellent place to experience island life on a budget. Lake Toba, Indonesia's largest and most tranquil lake, is a popular tourist destination. Samosir, a small island in the middle of Lake Toba, is also worth a visit. Many visitors flock to Bali, which is known for its surfing spots, nightlife, magnificent waterfalls, and silent, tranquil rainforests (especially near Ubud).

  • You can fly to Indonesia in about INR 28,000

  • You can find hotels starting at INR 2,000 per night. Dorms are available for less than INR 800 per night for those looking for a more affordable option.

  • Tourism during COVID-19: The archipelago, including Bali, is now open to international visitors. Only vaccinated tourists are permitted to enter the country, provided they have a negative RT-PCR test result obtained 48 hours prior to departure.

3. Thailand


Thailand is yet another must-see Asian country. Every year, millions of tourists from all over the world visit the country, particularly those on a tight budget. If you're looking for a cheap country to visit from India, this is the place to go! Although the daily cost of travel in Thailand is very similar to that of Malaysia, Thailand is well known for its delicious food, both in fine restaurants and on the street. It is recommended to spend at least one week to ten days in Thailand because there is just so much to see and do, and travelling between the islands takes time if they are on your bucket list.

  • You can get a round trip cost around INR 17000.

  • I will cost you around INR 2000 per night for a decent stay.

  • Tourism during COVID-19: Thailand is ready to welcome fully vaccinated Indian visitors, even allowing them to bypass quarantine.

4. Vietnam



This is one of the best places in the world for backpackers, and it is also one of the cheapest countries to visit from India. Every year, millions of low-cost travellers visit the country. Everything in Vietnam is inexpensive, from transportation to lodging to dining. It's a nice place to visit for a vacation if you don't want to spend a lot of money. You can visit Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Sapa, Nha Trang, Mekong Delta, UNESCO World Heritage Site-listed Ha Long Bay.


Entry Requirements:


  • A round trip to Vietnam from India could cost you around INR 25,000

  • You can get a decent stay for about INR 1,500- 3,000 per night.

  • Tourism during COVID-19: Travel to Vietnam from other countries is permitted. On arrival, proof of a negative RT-PCR/RT-LAMP test taken within the previous 72 hours must be provided. There is no need for quarantine.
